The local Dominican retailers have many gift shops right on the main beach offering jewelry, souvenirs, paintings, restauarants and quaint pubs right on Sosua Beach. There are several small clothing stores and gift shops in the village as well. If shopping is an important part of your travel plans there is a small yet elegant two story mall in the Playa Dorada resort complex about twenty minutes from Sosua. Also the larger town of Puerto Plata has many shopping options to explore.
If shopping is your favorite thing to do while in the Caribbean I don’t think Sosua or the islands north coast is the right choice for you. Shopping is more of a necessity here and not considered a favorable activity.
