The local Dominican retailers have many gift shops right on the main beach offering jewelry, souvenirs, paintings, restauarants and quaint pubs right on Sosua Beach.  Popular shopping items include Larimar Jewelry (gemstone of the Caribbean), Sweet Dominican Brugal Rum, Leon Jimenez Cigars, Colorful art and Caribbean apparel. Sosua Beach also features local artists creations, elegant beachfront restaurants, tropical bars and an oasis of gracious Caribbean hospitality.

There are several small clothing stores and gift shops in the village as well. If shopping is an important part of your travel plans there is a small yet elegant two story mall in the Playa Dorada resort complex about twenty minutes from Sosua. Also the larger town of Puerto Plata has many shopping options to explore.

If shopping is your favorite thing to do while in the Caribbean I don’t think Sosua or the islands north coast is the right choice for you. Shopping is more of a necessity here and not considered a favorable activity.
