There are several small clothing stores and gift shops in the village as well. If shopping is an important part of your travel plans there is a small yet elegant two story mall in the Playa Dorada resort complex about twenty minutes from Sosua. Also the larger town of Puerto Plata has many shopping options to explore.

If shopping is your favorite thing to do while in the Caribbean I don’t think Sosua or the islands north coast is the right choice for you. Shopping is more of a necessity here and not considered a favorable activity.

Sosua offers eye-catching white-sandy beaches and a picturesque village. Sosua Beach is nothing short of spectacular with it’s dazzling shopping plaza directly on the beach.

The oceanfront Piergiorgio Palace Hotel is a Caribbean cliff side resort, located in the historic, seaside resort town of Sosua on the Atlantic Ocean, just 15 minutes from the Gregorio Luperon International Airport in Puerto Plata.

Sosua By The Sea has direct access to two beaches that are separated by a reef. One of the beaches is shared with Casa Marina Resort and has public access from the street. The second beach is very quiet and a great spot to enjoy a good book or the peaceful sounds of the calm Atlantic. A buffet breakfast is included in your room rate. The all inclusive vacation option is available but at an additional price. An all inclusive vacation limits your opportunity to experience the real Caribbean and enjoy the great restaurants and night life available in downtown Sosua.

Downtown Sosua is delightful with a full complement of shops, Casino, Internet cafes, bars and open air restaurants. The neighboring Cabarete is a more youthful beach town known in the international windsurfing circles and is just ten minutes to the north of Sosua.
